Xiaomi YU7: The Brand’s First Electric SUV Takes Aim at Tesla Model Y

Xiaomi has officially entered the electric SUV market with its first model, the XIAOMI YU7. Revealed in government announcements and confirmed by Xiaomi Auto on December 9, 2024, the fully electric YU7 (product code XMA6500LBEVA1) is slated for a mid-2025 release, targeting a launch window of June to July.

Industry experts suggest that this sleek new contender will directly compete with Tesla’s Model Y, marking a bold step for Xiaomi as it expands its presence in the electric vehicle segment.

It may also be noted, the YU7’s unveiling follows its initial appearance in the 377th batch of the Road Motor Vehicle Manufacturers and Products Announcements by China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) on November 15, 2023, where two Xiaomi vehicles were first revealed to the public.
