The Chinese Automobile industry is vast and has more than a 100 manufacturers/companies, both state and private owned.

These car brands/manufacturers cover different models and price ranges to meet the growing demand, locally, and observing trends from recent years, globally.

In the first quarter of 2023, China overtook Japan as the world’s top auto exporter for the first time, according to a report in Nikkei Asia.

The value of Chinese passenger vehicle exports exceeded $16 billion.

There are altogether 35 local factories in China (both state owned and private).

Some well-known Chinese car brands include BYD(比亚迪)、‌GEELY (利汽车)、‌CHANGAN (长安汽车)、SAIC MOTOR (‌上汽集团)、GAC Group‌ (广汽集团)、‌FAW-VOLKSWAGEN (一汽-大众)、SAIC-GM-Wuling (上汽通用五菱)、BEIJING AUTOMOTIVE (‌北京汽车)、Great Wall Motors (‌长城汽车)、CHERY AUTOMOBILE ‌(奇瑞汽车) etc。

Among them, BYD, Geely and Changan are examples of state owned enterprises. BYD being the oldest new energy based.
